Car insurance: what does the law say?

The 1958 law made car insurance compulsory. It requires that your car be insured at a minimum with third-party liability insurance, also called basic third-party insurance by insurers. It covers material and/or bodily damage caused to others. Example: injury to a pedestrian or passenger, damage to a parked vehicle.
